The most important product of the timber industry complex in Russia is fuel pellets, or wood pellets. The basis of such capsules is wood waste: bark, sawdust, chips and others.
The production of pellets not only provides environmentally friendly fuels, but also solves the problem of the utilization of waste from sawmills and agriculture, which were previously mainly exported to landfills to rot, or to smoulder sometimes, creating extra risks.
In addition, such pellets are less susceptible to spontaneous combustion, they give more heat compared to conventional firewood, are easily transported and do not cause allergic reactions. Leaders are enterprises of the Vologda and Leningrad regions, the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Republic of Karelia.
The volumes of export of Russian biofuel have been steadily growing for the past ten years. Thus, the production of pellets in Russia has a great potential and all the prerequisites for increasing production volume several times.
