Russian timber industry companies continue to conquer the new perspective markets of the Asia-Pacific Region key countries
From November 6 to November 8, 2018, in Shanghai (China), the business mission of the Russian delegation, organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, will take place in order to expand and strengthen the partnership with the Chinese side.
Cooperation between Russia and China in the field of forestry is developing in accordance with the Program of Russian-Chinese cooperation in the development and use of forest resources and over the past year has shown positive dynamics both in increasing interaction and in increasing the commodity turnover of products of the timber industry. Today, China is developing large-scale investment projects of China in the woodworking industry: the RFP Group holding project to create the Far East Center for the Deep Processing of Wood in the Khabarovsk Territory, Ruskitinvest JSC to create a timber cluster and OOO Sibirles for the production of veneer and furniture components in the Tomsk Region . A number of new projects in the Republic of Buryatia, the Novosibirsk Region, the Khabarovsk and Krasnoyarsk Territories are at the discussion or initial stage of implementation.
In 2017, the volume of Russian-Chinese timber turnover increased by 23% compared to 2016 and amounted to 4.8 billion US dollars, of which export volume was 4.2 billion US dollars, and imports – 635 million US dollars. The volume of export shipments in 2017 increased by 23%. Currently, the share of forestry products is 10.7% of total Russian exports to China.
As part of the business mission to Shanghai, a number of meetings of the Russian side with the specialized associations of the PRC, buyers will take place, and visits to enterprises will take place. Also, Russian companies will take part in the China Import Expo 2018 international professional exhibition of imported goods. This event will be held for the first time and will be held with the full support of the state. The exhibition will feature a single interactive national Russian stand with an area of 256 m2, which will highlight various areas of Russian industry. The Russian timber industry complex under the Russian Timber Industry brand will be presented in an interactive format on the stand.
