A media tour to the production facilities of ARCHPOLE, a Russian furniture brand, organised by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia (Minpromtorg) in cooperation with the Industrial Designers Club (Russia), will be held on 12 December 2019.

Over the past decade, Russian industrial design has taken a step forward from conceptual designs and individual pieces to small-scale production. We have been seeing an increase in individual production of furniture custom-made to the needs of individual customers.

The ARCHPOLE furniture and interior design gallery is located in the building of the Moscow Electric Lamp Plant (MELZ), a pre-revolutionary factory-made-gallery. The brand’s headquarters occupy two floors with the total area of 500 m2, where their ECO office, showroom and photo studio are located. It is a very busy place where real work gets done. This is why the MELZ space stands out among other creative environments: it is very production-focused.

For reference

ARCHPOLE Architecture, Design and Production Lab was established in 2008 by architects and interior designers Anna Sazhinova and Konstantin Lagutin.

This experimental company creates sets of furniture items, from an idea to developing its design, selecting materials and finish and then producing prototypes. All ARCHPOLE industrial design elements are manufactured at their own production facility, where every new item is then produced in series, which ensures high quality, manufacturing speed and optimal cost of the end product.

Currently, there are about 300 furniture and interior items and accessories in 14 variants of finish for each item in ARCHPOLE online shop.  The area of the production facility exceeds 600 m2. They produce over 700 items monthly.

The finish is the centrepiece of these items with prevalence of artificially aged surfaces providing a unique look and feel. The company uses traditional materials in production such as birch plywood, old wood boards and planks and carbon steel.
